• Sponges can be used for so much more than wiping down the counters or washing the dishes.  Here are a few alternative uses.

    1. Nail polish remover jar.  Make your own by placing a sponge in a jar and filling with nail polish remover.  It works like a charm.
    2. Ice packs. Put a damp sponge in the freezer.  Place the sponge in a ziplock bag and use it to keep your lunch cool.
    3. Absorb humidity in your fridge.  Use a sponge in your crisper drawer to help soak up some of the moisture. Your fruits will appreciate it and they’ll last longer.
    4. Seed sprouting.  Dampen a sponge and place some seeds on top.  Cover with a glass bowl to create a terrarium effect.  Place near a window for light and watch your seeds sprout.
    5. Gauge water for plants.  Place a sponge in the bottom of your potted plant. Cover with soil.  As you water your plant, it’ll help keep you from drowning it.
